1. The light of the laser is absorbed by the melanin in the hair follicle. Because darker hair has more melanin, you need fewer treatments on fair-skinned areas with dark hair than you will on lighter hair.
2. One treatment isn't enough to get rid of hair permanently. Laser treatment is only effective while the hair is in an active growth cycle, and around a third of your hair is actively growing at any one time. Although results vary, you will usually need between 4 and 8 treatments on any one area to permanently remove hair.
3. There is some pain associated with the laser, but, it is not severe. Most people compare the feeling of the laser to having a rubber band snapped against your skin. The sensation varies person by person, and also varies depending on the part of the body being treated.
4. In the past, laser hair removal was not as effective on dark skin. However, the newer technology of our state of the art lasers can safely remove hair even on darker skin tones.
5. The hair takes from 8 to 14 days to fall out after laser treatment. Many people find using an exfoliating treatment around the 10th day helps.

Average Laser Hair Removal Treatment Series

Only 30% or less of your hair may be in the active growth phase at any one time depending on the body area.  Thus, a series of treatments will be required to achieve the long-term improvement you desire. An average of 6-8 treatments, spaced approximately 4-12 weeks apart, should be expected depending on hair type and anatomical position for long lasting, optimal results. Darker, more course hair may require fewer treatments, while finer, lighter-colored hair needs will need more.

Typical treatment sessions
Sessions for an upper lip or small bikini area can take as little as 15 minutes, while larger areas on back and legs may require up to 60 minutes or more.
